Daft Punk X Disco Ball — Thomas Helmet Matrix Version

A handcrafted helmet that brings the iconic look of the legendary French duo to life with a stunning new twist. With over 2000 mirror tiles, the helmet will leave you shining bright at any festival, fancy dress party, or any special occasion.

This matrix version features a full-colour LED display behind the visor, alongside LED bars on the sides and LED rings around each ear. The display runs over 35 built-in animations — scrolling text, spectrum bars, flames, fireworks, star fields, fractals and more — with an authentic red-only mode inspired by the original Discovery era helmets. There is even a playable game of Snake. Check out the video to see it in action.

Everything is controlled from the free Daft Disco Helmets app over Bluetooth. Adjust brightness, speed and colours, choose which animations play and in what order, send your own scrolling messages, or design your own animations pixel by pixel using the built-in editor. Anything you create is stored in the helmet itself and plays without your phone connected. The helmet works perfectly well on its own — the app is entirely optional.

For added comfort, the helmet also includes two 40mm fans under the visor to reduce misting and keep you cool. The lights and fans can be powered with a 2A USB power bank (not included due to shipping restrictions, but readily available). In testing, a 20,000mAh power bank ran the display and all lighting for over 10 hours.

The padded lining is adjustable with Velcro to fit heads of different shapes and sizes.

Each helmet is carefully handcrafted over an epoxy-strengthened 3D printed shell, which may result in slight variations from piece to piece. However, the pictures accurately represent what you can expect. While rubber edging and grouting between tiles minimize sharp edges, they cannot be completely eliminated. As with any tinted visor, vision is a little reduced, particularly in low light.
